Who You Are

As the Controller of our pre-IPO biotech, you will play a crucial role in shaping our financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and establishing robust financial systems. Reporting directly to the Head of Business Development, you will oversee all aspects of financial management and accounting functions, providing leadership and guidance to the finance team.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Design and manage the monthly closing process adequate to ensure timely and accurate financial statements
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and optimize operational efficiency
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to monitor business performance

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts
  • Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and provide insights to management for course correction as necessary
  • Continuously refine budgeting and forecasting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with external auditors for periodic audits and ensure timely completion of audit procedures
  • Stay updated on relevant accounting standards and regulatory changes impacting the biotech industry

IPO Readiness:

  • Work closely with external auditors and legal team to prepare financial documentation and disclosures for the IPO process
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and GAAP standards in all financial reporting and disclosures
  • Support due diligence efforts and interface with external stakeholders, including underwriters and legal counsel

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Promote professional development and skill enhancement initiatives to build a high-performing finance organization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to drive financial literacy and accountability throughout the organization

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in financial management, accounting, or auditing roles, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership capacity
  • Prior experience in the biotechnology or life sciences industry highly preferred; familiarity with pre-IPO and IPO processes is a plus
  • Strong technical accounting skills and proficiency in GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Exceptional analytical abilities and strategic thinking skills, with a demonstrated track record of driving financial performance
  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate others towards achieving common goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • High degree of integrity, ethics, and professionalism, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity and compliance

At BridgeBio, we strive to provide a market-competitive total rewards package, including base pay, an annual performance bonus, company equity, and generous health benefits. Below is the anticipated salary range for candidates for this role who will work in California. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, educational background, location of residence and performance during the interview process. BridgeBio is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions based in other states.
