Who You Are

The Contracts Administrator will assist the Legal Department in launching the company’s first contracts lifecycle management system, Gatekeeper, support training, system administration, and overall contract lifecycle management such as contract review, negotiation, and execution. This role requires applying analytical, project management, systems management skills, and expertise in efficient navigation and support of several systems and platforms related to contracts and purchase orders.  The Contracts Administrator will work independently to process contracts such as non-disclosure agreements, vendor scopes of work, and consulting agreements and coordinate with Finance on the issuance of purchase orders.


  • Serve as an intake point for all contract requests through contracts lifecycle management system (Gatekeeper) and assign to the appropriate internal or external legal reviewer, as needed
  • Independently draft, review, and process contracts such as non-disclosure agreements, vendor scopes of work, and consulting agreements using company templates and/or comparing incoming agreements with previously executed agreements
  • Work closely with attorneys to allow timely drafting, review, negotiation, and execution of all contracts
  • Support contract template and playbook development/maintenance, including periodic reviews of templates and playbooks, and incorporate best contracting practices and provisions
  • Work closely with attorneys and other business functions to ensure that templates comply with legal requirements, applicable regulations, and best practices
  • Collaborate closely with internal clients to ensure timely completion of agreements with optimal contractual terms aligned with business need and risk profile
  • Assist in the development and training for Gatekeeper and contracting processes generally to ensure consistency across the business
  • Comfortable managing and prioritizing a high volume of contract requests
  • Spearhead business process development and/or improvement initiatives that contribute to a successful end-user experience, as well as reinforce strong collaborations with external partners
  • Responsible for onboarding new users of Gatekeeper, including technical aspects relating to the same.  Act as the technical system owner with support from IT, as needed
  • Perform other legal projects and related duties, as needed

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a contracts manager; experience working in a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company preferred
  • Contract drafting and negotiation experience required; understanding of contracts, key contract terms, and the contract lifecycle is critical
  • Experience with contracts lifecycle management systems required
  • Must be adaptable and able to excel in a fast-paced, creative environment where every minute counts
  • Strong attention to detail required, as well as demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Must have the ability to solve problems independently and use sound business good judgment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, but growing team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be an expert user of Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
